We shot a video last year on our trip to South America that was improperly oriented. Uploading files to a new Mac today, I noticed it in one of my directories. I am of course aware that this can be accomplished in a number of applications, but I just wondered, and I thought, “Why not ask Gemini to reorient it?” Logical question, right? Gemini is my go-to AI for speed and versatility. And, it usually gets things right!

But this time, it failed miserably, saying, “That is definitely a weird glitch in the matrix! It seems like the AI is trying to “reimagine” your scene rather than just performing a simple technical rotation. While the unexpected cast of characters is interesting, let’s get you back to your actual business goals.”

Here’s the original video:

This is the first iteration:

And here is the second

These folks are honestly somewhat endearing, and you may see them again from time to time. But this was an epic Gemini fail from the original task of just rotating our video with Jean, our agency’s social media guru.

I wonder if Claude might do better…🤔

Update: Claude told me to get a life and just use one of the numerous tools available for the task! 😂
